American Heritage Credit Union Recognized for Its Community Impact by South Jersey Biz
American Heritage Credit Union (“American Heritage”) was recognized by South Jersey Biz in a feature in the April 2026 issue. The piece spotlighted several organizations that demonstrate a clear commitment to community service and social responsibility.
American Heritage gives back to its community in a variety of ways. This includes its nonprofit organization, the Kids-N-Hope Foundation (“The Foundation”). American Heritage became the first credit union in the United States to form its own nonprofit in 1996. The Foundation supports pediatric health and life services, such as music therapy, in various hospitals and local nonprofits, including Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (“CHOP”). American Heritage also has its Penny-A-Purchase Program, where $0.01 from every transaction made with an American Heritage debit or credit card is donated to The Foundation. To date, The Foundation has raised more than $5.1 million, helped more than 10,000 children, and held various events for the community throughout the year.
In 2025, American Heritage pledged a gift of $250,000 to Jefferson Health, one of the leading health systems in the region. These funds will allow Jefferson to expand services and supports to their Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center and Patient Support Center, both located at Jefferson Torresdale Hospital in Northeast Philadelphia.
There are also associate-led committees which American Heritage team members can volunteer for which give back to the community. This includes the Green Team, which holds various environmentally-focused initiatives throughout the year, such as highway clean-ups, book collections, and clothing collections, all of which support the local community and local nonprofit organizations. There is also the Adopt-A-Family Committee, which holds various fundraisers year-round to support numerous families throughout the Greater Philadelphia area during the holidays.
American Heritage also puts forth its annual Spirit of Giving Food Drive, where associates and members donate canned goods and nonperishables to be delivered to several food banks and pantries throughout Pennsylvania and New Jersey. The initiative collected more than 10,000 pounds of food in 2025 and included a monetary donation of $50,000 to several of American Heritage’s Workplace Partners.
“It’s a tremendous honor to be recognized for our community impact by a publication such as South Jersey Biz,” said Bruce K. Foulke, President & CEO of American Heritage Credit Union. “Community service is a value we hold dearly, and one that our associates live out every day. We’re proud to have associates and a membership that is always seeking out ways in which they can get involved to support our great communities.”
