Maria Murphy - Financial Award of Excellence 2026

Maria Murphy, Assistant Vice President of Commercial Operations for American Heritage Credit Union (“American Heritage”), has been awarded the Financial Award of Excellence from the Philadelphia Department of Behavioral Health and Intellectual DisAbility Services. Murphy’s award comes from her commitment to American Heritage’s partnership with Special People In the Northeast (“SPIN”).

Through Murphy’s leadership role within the Commercial Operations team, she was able to oversee the opening of 165 organizational representative payee accounts, in addition to the order of debit cards and checks for those accounts. She worked closely alongside Katie Frank, Commercial Operations Supervisor, to execute this task. Murphy’s work was also aided by American Heritage’s Business Development team (who oversee the full relationship with SPIN), as well as the Branch Operations, Information Systems, and Commercial Lending departments.

“It’s an absolute honor to be recognized with the Financial Award of Excellence by the Philadelphia Department of Behavioral Health and Intellectual DisAbility Services,” said Murphy. “This recognition is a testament to the collaboration of several associates and departments—all of whom have helped foster our meaningful relationship with SPIN. I look forward to continuing to serve our community and provide the team and individuals at SPIN with access to premier financial services and products.”

The Financial Award of Excellence is presented on behalf of the Philadelphia Department of Behavioral Health and Intellectual DisAbility Services. The award is part of the “My City, My Place” Awards which recognize individuals who are committed to supporting “people with intellectual disAbilities and/or Autism to have control over their own lives.” SPIN, the organization which nominated Murphy, “provides people-first services and supports for children and adults with intellectual, developmental, and Autism spectrum disabilities” Murphy will be presented with her award on Friday, May 15th, during the 34th Annual Brighter Futures Awards.

“We are incredibly proud of Maria and her receipt of this meaningful award,” said Will Mello, Senior Vice President of Commercial Lending. “Maria truly cares about improving the lives of those around her, and this award is a direct reflection of that commitment. Her passion for helping others comes across both in her work and leadership style of the Commercial Operations team. We’re fortunate to have her as one of our leaders at American Heritage.”

“I extend my congratulations to Maria upon her receipt of the Financial Award of Excellence,” said Bruce K. Foulke, President & CEO of American Heritage Credit Union. “Here at American Heritage, we make it our goal to provide financial solutions and products to our members, especially those right within our own communities. Maria and her team’s commitment to providing these offerings to the individuals at SPIN is a perfect demonstration of our mission.”
