American Heritage Credit Union (“American Heritage”) has been recognized with Mastercard’s “Doing Well by Doing Good” Award. Two of American Heritage’s associate-led committees, the Adopt-A-Family Committee (“Adopt-A-Family”) and Green Team, were part of this recognition, as well as American Heritage’s nonprofit organization, the Kids-N-Hope Foundation (“The Foundation”).

The “Doing Well by Doing Good” Award is a category of Mastercard’s annual Community Institution Segment Awards, which honor financial institutions for community impact, innovation, and consumer experience. “Doing Well by Doing Good” recognizes financial institutions whose impact goes beyond money and finances—it honors organizations that are making true differences in the lives of community members.

Two of the committees that were part of American Heritage’s submission, Adopt-A-Family and the Green Team, are overseen entirely by associates. Adopt-A-Family holds various fundraisers throughout the year, such as raffles to sporting events and concerts, photos with Santa Claus during December, and a trivia night, all put forth to raise money to provide gifts and essential items to families during the holiday season. The Green Team holds initiatives all year long, from highway clean-ups and book collections to a coat and sneaker drive in the colder months. American Heritage associates are encouraged to volunteer on the committees and causes that resonate with them.

American Heritage’s submission also highlighted the efforts of its nonprofit organization, the Kids-N-Hope Foundation. The Foundation was founded in 1996 to support the music therapy program at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. To date, The Foundation has raised more than $4.5 million to support music therapy and other pediatric health and life services, in addition to helping more than 9,000 children. American Heritage associates also assist with The Foundation’s fundraising and events, namely at its annual Member Appreciation Day & Car Show held every May.
